While away from home…

…we ate pretty simply.

Above is a veggie wrap I decided to throw together at the last minute. Just some salad fixings left over from the day before. So there you see green leaf lettuce, crimini mushrooms, hemp seeds, orange, red and yellow sweet peppers, dulse flakes, red tomato, avocado and a sprinkling of Himalayan salt. Yummy.

This is what we ate while out dining with my father-in-law…

…a combination of fresh vegetable and fruit items that the kitchen had available.

There were cucumbers slices, carrots sticks, celery sticks, button mushrooms, red tomato wedges, and green leaf and iceberg lettuce. The vegetables were bursting with so much flavor that a sprinkling of fresh lemon juice and a spot of black pepper was all they needed.

We also munched on a tweaked version of my Basic Crackers. See them on that small plate?

Good thing I whipped up a batch of those before we left home. They were the perfect complement.

Ohhhhhh, and here is what we had on Thanksgiving…

…care of Chaco Canyon Cafe in Seattle, Washington.

Pictured above in the small bowl is a Spinach Salad with Pomegranate, Stark Crimson Pear, Hazelnuts, and Pear-Hazelnut Dressing. On the large plate down in front is a Sage Loaf resting on a small bed of field greens next to a very yummy Curried Apple Cranberry Chutney and across from Whipped Parsnips topped with Crimini Gravy. Off to side out of view was a scrumptious Vanilla and Cacao Pudding with Candied Cardamom Pecans. That dark concoction you see in the glass is my Cherry BANG. Our special Thanksgiving celebration would not have been complete without it. [warm smile]

My husband and I had initially made plans to indulge in our own raw dinner alongside of whatever everyone else intended to have, but then one of our relatives also wanted to try what we were going to eat. Before we knew it three more people wanted to join in, so everyone ate some raw food for Thanksgiving. It was a very lovely time. If you reside in or happen to visit the Seattle area, definitely check out Chaco Canyon Cafe. And tell them Blaq Berry sent you! [wink]
